Petr Cech Colourful Goalkeeper Gloves

Adidas Fingersave Allround Purple/Red Special For Petr Cech.

Launched to accompany the new adidas Champions League ball, here's a look at the colourful new gloves to be worn by Petr Cech during the 2011/12 Champions League competition. The new adidas Fingersave Allround goalkeeper gloves are certainly eye-catching, so let's take an exclusive first look...

In next seasons Champions League adidas will be boasting two of the best goalkeepers in world football – Petr Cech and Manuel Neuer – and whilst it's yet to be confirmed whether Neuer will be sporting these new Fingersave's, we do know that Cech will certainly be getting noticed on pitch!

The new adidas Fingersave Allround goalkeeper gloves have been designed to incorporate the same colour-scheme as the new adidas Finale 11 ball, and you can check out our full review of that one here. The Fingersave's have been a mainstay of the adidas goalkeeper glove range for some time now, and have been a popular choice with the likes of Edwin Van Der Sar, so it'll be interesting to see if they can win over any additional fans with this bold colourway!

As the name would suggest, the new adidas Fingersave gloves incorporate technology to protect the fingers and assist in keeping the ball out of the net. Available in different stiffness degrees, removable and separately exchangeable 'Fingersave' spines afford great comfort and protection whether you're catching, holding or throwing the ball.

For holding onto the ball, the new Champions League Fingersave's feature a new adidas 'Allround Extreme' 3.5mm foam, the next generation of 'Allround' latex with enhanced grip properties. Whilst latex wrapping on the lateral side ensures a snug fit and the vital thumb area enjoys increased stability with a tight fit courtesy of the thumb wrap.

As the game has evolved so have goalkeeper gloves, and as many keepers now opt to punch the ball because of it's unpredictable flight path, but also to get the ball into play quickly, adidas have responded with a new punching zone. The patented 'Punching Control' technology means maximum impact is transferred to the ball. The result is more grip, more control, more powerful punches!

The adidas Fingersave Allround gloves are cut for optimum ball to latex coverage, and secured with an elastic stretch strap for a secure and stable individual fit. What adidas are saying is – if your hand can get to the ball, then a glove with an assured fit will get some latex on the ball!

Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite Football Boots - Black/White/Orange

Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite Football Boots. this article original from soccerbible.com.

The new Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite is a major leap forward in Tiempo design. A boot built around tradition, Nike have significantly updated the Tiempo - now weighing just 265g - to suit the modern game. The new Nike Tiempo Legend IV is Nike's new interpretation of what a leather boot should be!

Nike Flywire technology has been introduced to the Tiempo for the first time, adding both strength and suppleness. Flywire threads have been bonded to the leather without sacrificing any softness (and therefore touch). Flywire technology also reduces the layers of construction on the upper, keeping that famous Tiempo softness. Incredibly, a total of 56.50 meters of Flywire is used to create the new Nike Tiempo IV Elite!

The new Nike Legend IV Elite is made of Premium Kangaroo leather, only available in the Tiempo IV Elite. The upper is made from the softest and strongest high performance k-leather available. The same premium leather was first used by Nike in the 10R collection. Now, for the Tiempo Legend IV Elite, further advancements have been made making the leather stronger and softer.

Vamp stitching on the upper is one of the key factors in providing the soft touch and feel the Nike Legend is famous for. The new diagonal stitching in the new Tiempo Legend IV prevents the boot from over stretching while the clean minimal-stitched area at the front of the boot creates a clean surface for great touch.

Another key visual change made to the new Nike Tiempo Legend IV is the heel design. The Nike Legend has always had the iconic stripe piece on the heel. Now for the Legend IV, this classic design feature has been made functional as well as iconic. The coloured diagonal heel stripes have been designed to increase the boots visibility, enhancing your team-mates peripheral vision towards the shoe.

The Nike Swoosh is one of the most symbolic parts of the Nike Tiempo. For the new Nike Tiempo Legend IV football boots, Nike have made the swoosh bigger on the front, giving it a more iconic look whilst being more visible on pitch. The new memory foam tongue design has also changed, featuring a carefully positioned slit to avoid bones and tendon contact.

The carbon-fibre plate, first introduced in 2010, remains in the Nike Tiempo IV Elite. Usually a boot will have another layer of infrastructure made of TPU, but the carbon-fibre has enough structure alone, taking the player lower to the ground and therefore giving the boot greater response. The carbon fibre sole unit reduces the weight of the Tiempo by 40g, making it more responsive and ensuring greater performance.

The new Nike Tiempo IV Elite offers a respect for the heritage of the boot and the style of shoemaking. They are not about flashy design or features, but refinement and simplicity. A design that is understated, not flamboyant. The new Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite is a timeless piece of craftsmanship.

Soccer Ball and its History

A long time ago, a soccer ball was made out of a pig's bladder. Nowadays, they're high tech pieces of equipment that are designed to be precision made, lightweight, durable and multi-sided pieces of modern ingenuity.

A soccer ball has four major components: the cover, stitching, the lining and the bladder. These days, the outer part, or the cover of a soccer ball, is made of synthetic leather. In the 'old days', the cover of the soccer ball used to be made of full-grain leather, but that material absorbed too much water and the soccer ball grew too heavy. The synthetic leather that a soccer ball is made from today are lightweight and water resistant.

Each soccer ball is made up of 32 separate panels, though some designs use less and some use more. The 32-sided soccer ball is the most common and is used in professional soccer games around the world. Here's where a good head for math comes in. A soccer ball is made up of 20 hexagonal and 12 pentagonal panels. The panels on the soccer ball bulge out because of the amount of air pressure inside the ball. If fewer panels are used to construct a soccer ball, the ball tends to curve more when airborne, because it's less stable.

The panels on a soccer ball can be stitched or glued together, but the best soccer balls are stitched by hand, which gives the soccer ball a stronger, tighter seam. These hand stitched soccer balls are more expensive than those that are machine stitched, but they're well worth the extra dollars. The cheaper soccer ball choices are glued, and these soccer balls are commonly used for practice sessions.

A soccer ball is stitched together in a process that begins with cutting out the panels piece by piece. Holes are punches around the edges of these panels. Then the soccer ball panels are turned inside out so that when finished, none of the stitches will show on the outside of the soccer ball. A different type of needle is used on these pieces. When finished, the soccer ball is turned right side out and the bladder is placed inside and inflated. One person might make four soccer balls a day. After completion, each soccer ball must go through multiple tests and graded for quality and performance. If a soccer ball needs to be used for a professional match, it must undergo other tests before it ends up on the playing field.
